Enhancements / Additional payments: Planning Resource
Additional Salary Information: you will also be entitled to a retention payment of £2,000 per year based on 37hrs per week or pro rata for hours worked. This retention payment will be spilt into two payments, in December and June. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months employment and successful completion of your probationary period. The payment of this retention payment is reviewed annually.
Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Planner to join our fast‑paced Planning Policy team.
We are aiming to appoint a planner with experience who is either chartered or working towards becoming chartered. However, as an organisation we are keen to develop your skills and welcome applications from those with a range of levels of experience.

Kirklees is preparing a new Local Plan that will deliver new homes and jobs to create the communities of the future and further our potential within the Leeds City Region whilst ensuring the creation of high‑quality places. The new Local Plan will have a key role in addressing the challenges relating to climate change and moving towards a net‑zero carbon future and supporting the implementation of our ambitious programme for the regeneration of our town centres.
You will work in our Planning Policy team preparing policies and proposals for the new Kirklees Local Plan. Part of the role includes working with Development Management by providing planning policy advice on applications and working across our services to support our exciting Blueprint regeneration plans for Huddersfield, Dewsbury and other centres.
You will also help to support local groups working on Neighbourhood Plans, respond to consultations, and undertake data gathering and monitoring. Good knowledge of national policy, guidance and legislation relating to Planning is therefore desirable.
