Job Summary

Deputy Head of Radiotherapy Physics, Consultant Clinical Scientist

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Humber Health Partnership seek a highly motivated and skilled individual to lead the Radiotherapy Physics service within a population of about 1 million.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide managerial and scientific leadership in the Radiotherapy Physics service.
  • Work closely with the Head of Radiotherapy Physics to ensure delivery of a high‑quality, safe and effective service.
  • Operational management of the radiotherapy service and planning/implementation of new systems.
  • Lead change management and drive improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Masters Degree (MSc) in Medical Physics or equivalent.
  • Corporate Membership of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).
  • Registration as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC.
  • Certificated DHSC recognition as a Medical Physics Expert in radiotherapy (level 8 qualification).
  • PhD in an appropriate subject (desirable).
  • Leadership/Management qualification (desirable).
Experience
  • Highly advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in radiotherapy.
  • Operational management of a radiotherapy service or significant section.
  • Project management for planning/implementation of new systems or technologies.
  • Demonstrable practical experience as a Medical Physics Expert for a radiotherapy service.
Salary and Contract

Band 8b, £64,455 – £88,682 per year, permanent, full‑time at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham.
