Manager – Direct Material Procurement (APIs)

Job Purpose
To manage end-to-end sourcing and procurement of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for regulated pharmaceutical markets, ensuring reliable supply, cost competitiveness, compliance, and strong vendor partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
Lead  sourcing and procurement of APIs  for the formulations business across regulated markets.
Identify, evaluate, develop, and  qualify API vendors  in line with regulatory and internal quality requirements.
Maintain strong knowledge of the  global API vendor base , particularly for USFDA, EU, UKMHRA, and other regulated markets.
Handle  technical discussions and queries  with vendors, internal QA, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing teams.
Manage complete  commercial negotiations , including pricing, contracts, payment terms, MOQ, lead times, and long-term supply agreements.
Ensure compliance with  regulatory, quality, and audit requirements  for all sourced APIs.
Drive  cost optimization initiatives  through strategic sourcing, alternate vendor development, and value engineering.
Monitor market trends, raw material price movements, and supply risks to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Coordinate with QA/QC for vendor audits, documentation, change management, and regulatory submissions.
Support new product development and scale-up activities through timely sourcing of development and commercial APIs.
Maintain procurement documentation, supplier performance metrics, and reporting as per company standards.

Qualifications
M.Pharm (Pharmacy)  or  M.Sc. (Chemistry)  – Mandatory
Experience
Minimum 5 years  of hands-on experience in  sourcing and procurement of APIs  for the  pharmaceutical formulations domain
Proven experience in  global sourcing  and dealing with international vendors for regulated markets

Qualifications
M.Pharm (Pharmacy)  or  M.Sc. (Chemistry)  – Mandatory
Experience
Minimum 5 years  of hands-on experience in  sourcing and procurement of APIs  for the  pharmaceutical formulations domain
Proven experience in  global sourcing  and dealing with international vendors for regulated markets
