Virtualization Engineer – VMware & HCI
Location:

Shift: 24/7 Rotational Shifts (including North America time zones)

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Virtualization Engineer with strong hands-on experience in VMware and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) to manage, support, and optimize enterprise virtualization platforms. The role involves day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and migrations across VMware-based environments, with a focus on availability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a managed services or large-scale enterprise environment, handling incidents, changes, and major outages while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support VMware vSphere / ESXi environments across production and non-production setups.
Administer and troubleshoot HCI platforms (vSAN preferred; Nutanix is a plus).
Perform VM provisioning, capacity planning, performance tuning, and health checks .
Handle VMware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management using VMware Update Manager / Lifecycle Manager.
Support on-prem to cloud and cloud to on-prem migrations involving VMware workloads.
Manage backup and recovery operations , primarily using Veeam .
Work closely with storage and network teams to resolve performance and availability issues.
Participate in major incident management , root cause analysis (RCA), and service restoration.
Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, and CAB activities.
Provide support in a 24×7 managed services environment .
Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
Primary Skills (Mandatory)
Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter .
Solid experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) – preferably VMware vSAN .
Good understanding of compute, storage, and networking concepts in virtualized environments.
Experience with HA, DRS, clusters, and fault tolerance in VMware.
Working knowledge of Windows Server clustering .
Basic administration knowledge of Windows and Linux guest OS .
Familiarity with ITIL processes (IM, PM, CR, SR, CAB).
Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience.
Willingness to work in 24/7 rotational shifts , including NA shifts.
Desired / Good-to-Have Skills
Exposure to Pacemaker HA clusters or other Linux HA solutions.
Experience with VMware vSAN advanced troubleshooting .
Knowledge of Nutanix AHV (added advantage).
Automation exposure using Shell scripting, Power
CLI, or Ansible .
Experience in DR drills, failover testing, and BCP activities .
Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure / AWS) in VMware-integrated environments.
Educational & Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – Preferred.
Microsoft certifications (MCSE or equivalent) – Good to have.
