Plant Head - Steel Racking

Summary

- Ownership of plant P&L, ensuring profitability, delivery performance and alignment with business objectives.
- Lead operations of the racking manufacturing plant, overseeing production in job shop settings that include roll forming, press shop, weld shop, and powder coating, packing and dispatch
- Drive high performance culture and ensure operational excellence, uses lean manufacturing tools for continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork
- Ensure smooth operations, customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, quality compliance, and long-term capacity building.

Core Responsibilities

- Serve as the spokesperson and leader for the plant, ensuring smooth audits, customer visits, and external stakeholder engagements.
- Oversee daily operations across all functions – Production, Quality, Maintenance, Toolroom, Dispatch, and allied departments – ensuring smooth workflow, process integrity, and adherence to customer timelines.
- Ensure Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives for waste reduction, yield optimization, cost reduction, and energy efficiency, to achieve world-class manufacturing standards.
- Ensure the quality standards, process consistency, and adherence to specifications for fabricated and coated parts, supporting robust inspection and non-conformance management.
- Monitor and achieve operational KPIs including productivity, OEE, Quality, Delivery adherence (OTIF), Inventory turns, Scrap generation, and Manpower efficiency, while driving adherence to annual operating plans (budgeting, production planning, manpower, and CAPEX).
- Build, motivate and mentor a high-performance workforce, enabling regular trainings, succession planning, and capability enhancement across departments for versatility required in job shop setting.
- Identify and support expansion projects, automation opportunities, ERP/SAP digitization, and other modernization initiatives to enhance plant competitiveness.
- Optimize resource allocation, CAPEX/OPEX budgets, and supply chain efficiency to ensure effective material flow, cost management, and timely delivery performance.
- Ensure adherence to delivery timelines and manage supply chain/logistics efficiency for customers.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety norms, and environmental standards, with robust inspection and non-conformance management practices.

Desired Experience & Skills

- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management.
- 10–15 years’ experience in plant management, ideally in racking/fabrication, with exposure to multiple job shop processes.
- Proven track record of managing large multifunctional teams and delivering plant-level P&L responsibility.
- Strong leadership and strategic mindset with hands-on exposure to Lean/TPM/Operational Excellence practices.
- Strong business acumen with ability to balance operational excellence with financial discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
- Familiarity with SAP/ERP-based manufacturing operations and MIS reporting systems.
