Our Role

As a senior level consultant in WSP’s Land Discipline, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential services related to land acquisition, valuation, compulsory purchase, compensation, landowner engagement, land access, wayleaves, consents, and negotiations.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate access and acquire complex land for high profile infrastructure projects across Scotland.
  • Secure appropriate land rights for large scale development projects.
  • Provide strategic land advice to clients.
  • Draft and prepare consent documents.
  • Utilise statutory powers (CPO, TCPA, DCO) on behalf of WSP clients.
  • Negotiate Heads of Terms to secure land for projects.
  • Liaise with major landowners, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors.
  • Manage and settle compensation claims (CPO, land damage, voluntary, etc).
  • Work with WSP’s multidisciplinary teams across the UK.
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively while working remotely.
  • Proven track record in delivering land and property related services.
  • Experience in land assembly projects including GDPR and data protection.
  • Experience negotiating access agreements, Heads of Terms, wayleave, servitudes, exclusivity agreements.
  • Experience managing and settling voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims.
  • Experience in valuation of land and/or buildings.
  • Experience in high profile infrastructure developments – road, rail, gas, electricity, water, utilities or renewable energy sector.
  • Understanding of Scottish planning system, NPF4, and relevant legislation (Electricity Act, Gas Act, Roads Act, Water Industry Act, Land Reform Act, Crofting Law).
  • Associate or full membership to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or other professional membership or chartership desirable.
