Graduate Civil Engineer – STRABAG UK

Program Overview

STRABAG UK offers a 15‑month graduate programme that covers key topics such as health & safety, emotional intelligence, team development, project management, sustainability, commercial and contractual acumen, inclusivity, social value and a psychologically safe working environment. Upon successful completion, graduates will progress to a full role within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of site operations, ensuring safety, quality, cost efficiency, timely production and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and sequence operations, including writing method statements, risk assessments and procuring subcontractors, labour, plant and material resources.
  • Brief teams and implement operational quality control, including setting out and QA processes.
  • Prepare technical drawings, calculations and construction documentation under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, local regulations and safety requirements.
  • Engage in commercial and design management activities.
  • Participate fully in the STRABAG UK 15‑month Graduate Programme.
Qualifications
  • Good communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Hardworking with a positive “can‑do” attitude.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a civil engineering degree.
Completion Requirements
  • Sign up as a Graduate member of a professional body (ICE, RICS, CICES).
  • Complete at least three quarterly reports.
  • Maintain CPD records signed off by a delegated Engineer, Counsellor or similar professional reviewer.
  • Obtain approval for completion from the professional reviewer.
Support & Development

The programme is supported by professional bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) through structured training agreement processes.
