Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Permanent)
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Up to £90,000 + Package

We are currently searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an extremely busy, family-owned Civil Engineering & Groundworks Contractor headquartered in Ipswich. Due to organic growth and several busy years in front of them, they are looking to bolster their commercial team and bring in a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex projects from tender through to final account, with strong leadership and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

* Take full commercial responsibility for assigned projects from inception to completion.

* Lead cost planning, procurement, and contract administration activities.

* Prepare and manage bills of quantities, valuations, and cost reports.

* Oversee subcontractor tendering, appointment, and management.

* Assess variations, value engineering options, and project risks.

* Manage interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.

* Liaise effectively with clients, design teams, site managers, and senior leadership to ensure accurate reporting and successful project delivery.

* Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.

* Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.

Key

Skills:

* Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge (JCT, NEC, or Design & Build forms).

* Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

* Exceptional analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software (e.g. Sage, Excel, and Causeway).

* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.

* Confident decision-maker with a collaborative approach.

Experience:

* Minimum 7+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

* Proven background working for a main contractor or subcontractor.

* Experience managing projects from tender stage to final account.

* Track record of mentoring junior staff and leading commercial teams.
