Summary

Lead the management of groundwater modelling and delivery of water resources projects on behalf of Environment Agency stakeholders. Use conceptual and numerical models to support decision‑making, protect the environment and deliver regulatory groundwater management.

Responsibilities
  • Take forward groundwater investigation and modelling programme, using consultant or in‑house resources to undertake field investigations, model refinement, update, and scenario testing.
  • Manage projects within the team programme from initiation to the delivery of outputs.
  • Act as an expert in groundwater investigations and modelling, keeping abreast of internal and external technical work.
  • Organise intellectual property licences for external organisations wishing to use Agency data, information and models.
  • Contribute actively to the wider groundwater modelling community.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience as a water resources specialist with groundwater model development and technical leadership.
  • Ability to deliver high‑value projects, including securing budgets, approval and managing consultants or in‑house resources.
  • Strong organisational skills to prioritise complex activities.
  • Capability to interpret model results and support their input to decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication skills, keeping stakeholders informed and anticipating needs.
  • Ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Degree level education in a relevant discipline; higher degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology or Water Resources Engineering preferred.
