Head of Finance

A client of ours in the Ipswich area are recruiting a Head of Finance to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm and paying 55,000 - 65,000 per annum depending on experience.

Part of the SMT team and managing a team of 1, key duties include but are not limited to:

• Management and Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts (including WIP), quarterly performance reviews, and concise shareholder reports.
• Bookkeeping and Accounting Systems: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using Sage/Xero, ensuring accurate, compliant, and audit-ready records.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, monitor performance against plan, and support sales forecasting and financial modelling.
• Audit, Compliance, and VAT: Prepare for annual audits and manage VAT returns, HMRC submissions, and ONS reporting.
• Cash Flow and Working Capital Management: Manage cash flow, working capital, and credit control to maintain liquidity and reduce debtor days.
• Invoicing and Credit Control: Raise and process sales invoices accurately and on time, managing customer accounts and credit control.
• Business Partnering and Leadership: Partner with managers to provide clear financial insight, promote cost control, and drive financial accountability.
• Strategic and Project Support: Support strategic initiatives and projects through financial analysis, costings, and scenario modelling.

Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Head of Finance position:

• Accountancy qualification or part qualified (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience with in a small or medium sized business
• Engineering industry experience desirable
• Proven ability to manage financial reporting cycles, budgets, and cash flow in a hands-on environment.
• Proficient in accounting software (Sage, Xero) and Excel
• Sound understanding of finance and cost accounting.
• Highly organised and excellent communication skills.
