Base pay rangePermanent, full time, 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
Band 7 - £50,253 to £58,226 per annum
About The PostWe seek to appoint a well-qualified and student-centred senior lecturer to contribute both to the teaching and development of our undergraduate law programmes (0.6 FTE) and to become Director of the Legal Advice Centre (0.4 FTE). You should be a qualified solicitor for the role to supervise students in the Legal Advice Centre. You will line manage a legal assistant and work closely with a senior research fellow on Legal Advice Centre related knowledge exchange programmes.
In partnership with the UG and PG Course Leaders, you will also play a key role in planning and running our Annual Law Lecture. Previous speakers have included Baroness Hale and Sir Brian Leveson.
We invite applications from candidates with expertise in company law, contract law, legal ethics, or family law. The successful applicant will also supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervise two student placements in the Legal Advice Centre each year as part of our Legal Placement module. The post offers the opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team in the iconic Waterfront building overlooking the marina at Ipswich’s Neptune Quay.
At the University of Suffolk, law is delivered through a "block" or "intensive" format, where students focus on one module at a time over a period of four or six weeks. We also are a technology-rich course, using innovative hybrid learning and teaching and ethical use of AI.

- Focused on student success and legal skills development as an integrated part of our courses.
- Lead the Legal Advice Centre with its portfolio of legal advice currently developing the skills of students in the fields of family law and business start-ups as well as oversee the portfolio of knowledge exchange activities working closely with a senior research fellow.
- Develop relationships with pro bono solicitors, charities, and local organisations (i.e. local prisons) to develop the portfolio of advice opportunities for students.
- Enthusiastic, friendly, innovative and talented qualified solicitor with teaching experience or equivalent.
