We are seeking a proactive, professional Transport Manager to lead the strategic and operational delivery of transport services at Ipswich School.

Our Transport Manager will lead the strategic and operational delivery of Ipswich School’s transport services, ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient network for all pupils and staff.
You will serve as the primary operational link for our technology partners and parents, overseeing routes and resolving incidents. Responsibilities include legal compliance, management of Section 19 permits, vehicle maintenance life cycles, and rigorous safety audits. You will plan transport for large-scale trips, boardings, and line‑manage a dedicated team of drivers.
Person specificationEssential qualifications:
- Full UK Driving Licence with D1 entitlement.
- Proven track record in fleet management and staff supervision, ideally in a school or charity setting.
- Knowledge of Section 19 and Driver Hours regulations.
- IT proficiency and ability to communicate with empathy.
Desirable:
- Transport Manager CPC or MiDAS Assessor qualification.
Salary and Benefits
- Permanent post with 6‑month probationary period.
- Minimum 37.5 hours per week for 42 weeks per year (including 35 term‑time weeks). On‑call from 07:00‑18:30 during term time.
- Salary £32,600 per annum, paid monthly in arrears by BACS.
- Statutory holiday during school holidays and other non‑contract times.
