Avocet Ward is looking for a Band 6 Charge Nurse to work as part of our passionate, service‑focused team. The ward, located at the Woodlands Unit on the Ipswich Hospital site, is an all‑female acute inpatient service providing 19 beds for individuals with various mental health related difficulties. Patients have access to psychology, art therapy, occupational therapy and other activities available on the ward.

Our nursing team consists of experienced nurses and clinical support workers dedicated to ensuring patients receive good and consistent care during admission and subsequent community support.

You will be required to work shifts across a 24‑hour period and actively participate in a 24‑hour site management rota through our daily operational huddle. You will work supportively and collaboratively with the Clinical Team Leader and Clinical Nurse Specialist, ensuring effective management of the ward in all respects (environmental, financial and clinical). Your duties will also include the planning and delivery of direct patient care with appropriate supervision, ensuring continuity of practice and working within a multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency environment.

As part of collaborative working among Senior Nurses, you will be expected to provide clinical lead to staff in various areas of practice, adhering to the unit’s philosophy and clinical skill base. You will monitor nursing practice daily and ensure nursing complements the practice of other professionals, and work towards implementing reviews and changes in practice at the discretion of the Clinical Team Leader.
