Team Manager - Food - Ipswich Area
Marks and Spencer
As a Team Manager in Food, you will lead a frontline team on the shop floor to deliver exceptional availability, 5‑star service, and commercial results. This is a leadership role in a highly competitive retailer, where you will be required to be commercially sharp, operationally resilient, and relentless in your standards.
Responsibilities- Lead and coach a team to deliver consistently under pressure, setting the pace, building capability, and holding high standards.
- Manage sales, standards, availability, and team performance, taking accountability when outcomes do not align with plans.
- Collaborate across departments to deliver a seamless customer experience, fixing problems early with pace and purpose.
- Drive commercial performance by understanding key metrics, translating them into action, and keeping the team laser‑focused on priorities.
- Ensure retail plans and store KPIs are achieved, support transformation initiatives, and maintain great customer service.
- Recruit, develop, and retain talent, providing a positive onboarding experience and continuous coaching.
- Maintain a safe, legal, and high‑quality store environment, including visual merchandising compliance.
- Use data and insights to improve the in‑store experience and operational performance, and deliver operational excellence to maximise product availability.
- Proven ability to lead a retail team and deliver against KPIs.
- Strong understanding of commercial, visual, operational, and people processes and systems.
- Data‑driven mindset with experience using business intelligence to identify opportunities.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Digital fluency and strong proficiency in retail systems.
- Experience implementing change and driving continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of safety, legal, and customer service standards relevant to the role.
- Embed change for lasting commercial impact.
- Own the success of the team, coaching colleagues for performance and growth.
- Use customer feedback and market trends to shape team actions.
