Senior Exterior Detail Designer – Lighting, Wheels & Functional Components
Locations: Turin, Italy & Chongqing, China
Type: Full-Time onsite
We’re looking for a Senior Exterior Detail Designer with a sharp eye for form, function, and innovation; someone who brings deep expertise in automotive lighting systems (headlamps, taillamps), wheels, and other functional exterior components.
What You’ll Do
Shape the Details:
Design and refine key exterior elements like lighting clusters, wheels, and trim, using sketching, rendering, and 3D tools.
Spot Trends Early:
Research design trends, materials, and lighting technologies (LED, OLED, finishes) to inspire future‑ready solutions.
Collaborate Globally:
Align with international design studios and our HQ in China to maintain consistency and innovation across programs.
Communicate with Impact:
Present ideas clearly and visually to stakeholders.
Stay on Track:
Support project timelines while balancing creativity, quality, and feasibility.
What You Bring
Strong aesthetic sensitivity and 3D design skills.
Solid experience in automotive lighting and exterior components.
Ability to translate design vision into technically viable solutions.
Strong hand and digital sketching abilities.
Proficient in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Alias, Blender, VRED, or similar.
Understanding of exterior lighting technology, materials (plastic, metal), and finish treatments.
Passion for innovation and precision in design.
Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Excellent time management and ability to adapt in fast‑paced environments.
Fluent English (spoken and written) is required.
Knowledge of Italian or Chinese is considered a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Transportation Design, Automotive Design, or Industrial Design.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive industry.
