Location: Basovizza
Position description
The successful candidate will be responsible for upgrading and optimizing the ion microprobe setup at RBI, which utilizes dual microprobe and a suite of Ion Beam Analysis (IBA) techniques for the elemental analysis and imaging of energy storage materials, with the focus on detection of light elements and monitoring of electrochemical processes.
The research will be conducted primarily at the accelerator facility of the Ruđer Bošković institute (RBI) managed by the Laboratory for ion beam interactions, Experimental physics division of RBI in Zagreb, Croatia. Part of the experimental work will be done at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, partner facility within the CERIC-ERIC consortium.
Qualifications and other requirements
We require a Masters or equivalent degree in physics. The successful candidate should have a degree in physics and have obligation to enroll to a PhD studies in physics. Therefore, the candidates should have GPA not lower than 80% of the maximum possible, i.e. to allow direct enrolment to the PhD studies.
Specifically, the ideal candidate should have :
Experience with experimental physics practices and methodologies;
Fluent English, both written and spoken, is essential (minimum B2 level), and knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
Additional Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in the application of Ion Beam Analysis techniques;
Knowledge about material analysis;
Experience in programming (i.e. Python, MATLAB, etc.).
The following competencies are considered a plus :
Strong affinity for experimental work;
Capacity for independent and creative approach in solving tasks;
Interpersonal and collaboration skills for work in the interdisciplinary team.
