Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Via Milano

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll play a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining our existing backend software systems while also driving the development of innovative new features and services. We value engineers who are committed to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code and who are eager to contribute to architectural decisions.

This position is open to both intermediate and senior‑level engineers with responsibilities and expectations tailored to your experience.
Our current technology stack includes Scala and Kotlin for backend development. While experience with these languages is a significant advantage we are open to considering candidates with strong backend experience in other languages.
The salary range for this position is between 45.000 and 60.000, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain robust server‑side applications, design, build, and improve existing systems.
Write efficient, reusable, well‑documented code with comprehensive automated tests (Code Excellence).
Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, resilient backend systems (Scalable Architecture).
Design and implement RESTful and Graph

QL APIs for seamless frontend‑backend communication (API Development).
Integrate with and optimize relational databases (e.g., Postgre

SQL, MySQL) and other data sources (Database Management).
Debug and resolve production issues, monitor server health, and respond to incidents promptly (Production Reliability).
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (frontend, product, stakeholders) to deliver high‑quality solutions (Collaboration).
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technology selection decisions (Architectural Influence).
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and contribute to containerization and orchestration efforts (Dev Ops Practices).

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Backend Software Engineer, with responsibilities adjusted based on experience level.
Solid understanding of software design patterns, architectural principles, and cloud platforms.
Experience designing, developing, and deploying applications on cloud platforms.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and evolve existing backend systems while driving innovation.
Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgre

SQL, MySQL).
Familiarity with Dev Ops practices including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
