The India Consumer Technology (ICT) team builds products and services that solve unique customer needs in Amazon’s fastest growing marketplace. We are a multi‑billion dollar business with huge potential to grow in a trillion‑dollar market. Our engineers own the complete consumer and seller experience for Amazon India, working on a wide range of technologies (including AWS, EC2, SQS, Amazon WW platforms, Elastic Search, Big Data, Machine Learning, Android, iOS, Amazon Horizon, JavaScript, React
JS) to build and operate highly scalable, low‑latency, mobile‑first products and services. We tackle challenges in Know Your Customer (KYC), last mile engineering, product discovery, delivery, payments, logistics, customer experience, seller experience, and more.
As a Software Engineer within the Amazon India Business team, you will design, develop and deploy solutions to help Amazon significantly expand its selection and drive improved customer experience by enabling a new fulfillment pipeline. This rare opportunity lets you build a successful, sustainable and strategic business for Amazon from the ground up. You will work with Principal/Senior Engineers to evolve the design and architecture of products owned by this team, set a high software quality bar, and provide technical direction to a highly technical team of Software Engineers.
In this role you will ensure is fast and offers the best shopping experience, focusing on mobile‑first experiences. You will analyze latency across pages using Red Shift, Map Reduce, Java, Elastic Search, and Machine Learning, work on key pages of the retail website, reduce latency, and adapt UX based on network bandwidth. You will be part of an exploratory, research‑oriented team that obsesses over performance and enjoys flexibility to pursue what makes sense.
Key job responsibilities
Work closely with senior engineers to design, implement and deploy applications that impact the business with an emphasis on Mobile, Payments, and e‑Commerce website development.
Own the delivery of an integral piece of a system or application.
Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments.
Assist directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and development of technical talent.
Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.

Candidate will be a leader, quick learner and able to work independently. He/she should operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
