At Buro Happold, you will join a high‑performing multi‑disciplinary team and lead projects and client relationships throughout the Middle East, and potentially across the world.

• Develop and implement long‑term urban development strategies and master plans.
• Lead the formulation of comprehensive urban visions aligned with sustainable development goals.
• Identify key opportunities for economic growth, infrastructure development, and community enhancement.
• Design and implement land use plans that promote efficient land utilisation.
• Develop zoning regulations and guidelines to guide development by strategic goals.
• Ensure land use plans consider environmental sustainability and resilience.
• Collaborate with government agencies, developers, community groups, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct public consultations and workshops to gather input on urban development plans.
• Build consensus among diverse stakeholders and address concerns through effective communication.

• Analysise existing policies and regulations related to urban planning.
• Propose and advocate for new policies that support sustainable urban development.
• Stay informed about global best practices and adapt them to the local context.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to plan and prioritise infrastructure projects.
• Integrate transportation, utilities, and public services into overall urban plans.
• Ensure infrastructure planning aligns with the strategic vision of the urban area.
• Integrate sustainable design principles into urban planning initiatives.
• Develop strategies for green spaces, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.
• Promote environmentally friendly practices in urban development.
• Lead a team of urban planners and professionals.
• Manage the entire planning process from concept development to implementation.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Research demographic trends, economic indicators, and urban analytics.
• Utilise data to make informed decisions and adjustments to strategic plans.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies that can enhance the planning process.
• A desire to lead continuous quality improvement in our work.
• Significant experience in project management and delivery.
• Degree qualification in a relevant urban planning or related engineering discipline.
• Experience in the Middle East or a willingness to learn, understanding of relevant Middle East codes, policies, regulations and market.
