Welder Technician

Job Description

The Welder will be responsible for executing high-quality welding and fabrication work to support the maintenance and installation of equipment within the dairy plant. The role requires expertise in sanitary TIG welding of stainless steel, working with food-grade piping systems, and ensuring all welds meet hygiene, safety, and structural standards.

• Perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel, particularly SS304 / SS316 used in hygienic process systems.
• Fabricate and install sanitary pipelines, tanks, and machinery components in line with food industry standards (e.g., 3A, EHEDG).
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric piping layouts.
• Conduct repair and modification work on process piping and utility lines (steam, CIP, product lines).
• Maintain high-quality weld finishes, including polishing and grinding where needed.
• Ensure all work follows hygienic design practices and does not compromise food safety.
• Conduct regular inspection and maintenance of welded joints in critical process lines.
• Support installation of new equipment and process line modifications during shutdowns or maintenance windows.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to reduce equipment downtime.
• Follow all safety regulations, use PPE, and participate in safety toolbox talks and training.
• Support other maintenance activities when welding is not required.

• Technical Diploma or Certification in Welding Technology.
• 5+ years of hands‑on welding experience, ideally in a dairy or food & beverage manufacturing environment.
• Strong TIG welding skills with stainless steel pipes, tanks, and frames.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiar with hygienic welding, pipe fitting, and sanitary fabrication techniques.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and fabrication sketches.
• Advanced understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance work.

• Experience in dairy or beverage manufacturing plants.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (3A, EHEDG, HACCP).
• Familiar with polishing, grinding, and leak testing (e.g., pressure testing, dye‑penetrant).
