Senior Interior Designer

AJ5D is growing, and we're looking for a high-calibre Senior Interior Designer to join our Johannesburg team.

This role is for someone who thinks in concepts, designs with purpose, and delivers with precision — a designer who can take a project from narrative to execution while leading clients and teams with confidence.

The Senior Interior Designer will lead creative direction across key projects, develop immersive design narratives, and guide the full design process from ideation to delivery.

You will collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to create work that is refined, functional, and distinctly AJ5D.

• Transform client requirements into refined design concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, spatial plans, and 3D visualisations.
• Work alongside clients and consultants to refine strategy, align expectations, and ensure cohesive project outcomes.
• Deliver clear, compelling presentations that secure buy‑in and move the project forward.
• Lead the planning and optimisation of spaces to balance flow, functionality, and design integrity.
• Curate materials, FF&E, finishes, and accessories that elevate the entire interior experience.
• Collaborate across internal teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Quality Control : Review design outputs to ensure technical accuracy, brand consistency, and overall excellence.
• Trend Awareness : Maintain a strong understanding of global design trends, emerging materials, and relevant technologies.

• Experience : 7+ years in Interior Design, ideally with hospitality or high‑end interior fit‑out experience.
• Must demonstrate leadership across design delivery.
• Education : Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
• Software Expertise : Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, 3ds Max, Revit, and additional design / visualisation tools.
• A strong, completed body of work that shows creative thinking, technical capability, and a refined design eye.
