Job Title: Technical Sales Representative – Automation

Salary & Benefits:

  • Basic Salary: R40,000 – R45,000 per month
  • Commission structure

Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Sales Representative to drive new business opportunities in the industrial automation sector. The successful candidate will promote automation solutions—including PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, drives, instrumentation, and control systems—while building and maintaining strong client relationships across manufacturing, engineering, industrial, and process environments. This role combines technical understanding with commercial acumen to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage potential customers across industrial sectors such as manufacturing, mining, FMCG, automotive, and utilities.
  • Promote and sell automation products and solutions including PLCs, SCADA/HMI software, VSDs, control panels, robotics, instrumentation, and process control equipment.
  • Conduct product presentations, site visits, and technical discussions with engineers, technicians, and plant managers.
  • Understand customer processes and recommend tailored automation solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety.
  • Prepare technical quotations, proposals, and tenders in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to close sales deals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor competitors, industry trends, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal technical, projects, and support teams to ensure accurate product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow up on leads generated by marketing initiatives.
  • Track sales activities, pipeline progress, and meet monthly/quarterly sales targets and KPIs.
  • Represent the company at industry exhibitions, trade shows, and client workshops.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical understanding of automation, electrical, or control systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Customer-focused with strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings/specifications (advantageous).
  • Target-driven with a proactive business development mindset.
  • Strong planning, CRM usage, and reporting skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric / Grade 12 (required)
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation (preferred)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in industrial automation or technical sales
  • Knowledge of brands such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, Schneider, ABB, or similar (advantageous)
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to customer sites
