Industrial Engineer – JHB; Plastic Injection Moulding

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer with expertise in plastic injection moulding to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and process improvement, with a focus on optimizing production efficiency and quality in a plastic injection moulding setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in the plastic injection moulding process to enhance efficiency and productivity.
2. Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, documentation, and standards to ensure consistent quality and compliance with industry regulations.
3. Perform time and motion studies, process analysis, and capacity planning to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including machine downtime and quality defects.
5. Provide technical support and training to production staff to ensure proper operation of machinery and equipment.
6. Conduct root cause analysis of production failures and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
7. Participate in new product development projects to optimize design for manufacturability and efficiency.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on plastic injection moulding.
3. Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies.
4. Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
7. Experience with project management and cross-functional collaboration.
