Job Description
As a Counter Sales & Material Handler, you will play a dual role in supporting both customer-facing sales and warehouse operations. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service at the sales counter while also ensuring accurate and efficient handling of materials in the warehouse. This hybrid position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to both sales and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales Support:
Assist walk-in customers at the counter with product inquiries, recommendations, and order processing.Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter.Promote products and drive sales growth through merchandising and customer engagement.Generate leads for the Outside Account Manager by networking with customers.Process returns, ensuring compliance with company procedures.Follow up on backorders and provide accurate delivery timelines to customersWarehouse & Material Handling:
Pick, pack, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently.Receive, verify, and put away incoming vendor shipments and customer returns.Identify and store special order or damaged materials appropriately.Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment.Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing debris and reporting hazards.Document shipping discrepancies and initiate freight claims when necessary.Notify supervisors of inventory discrepancies or damaged materials.Qualifications
Strong customer service and communication skills.Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification an asset).High attention to detail and accuracy in order processing and inventory handling.Basic computer skills for order entry and inventory management.Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a warehouse environment.Qualifications
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
College and/or University degree is an assetMinimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, counter sales, or a related roleOutstanding customer service and verbal communication skillsExcellent relationship-building skills with customers, vendors, and teammatesAbility to learn and operate applicable software systems for order processing and inventory managementExperience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentIntermediate math skills with strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to learn and safely operate material handling equipment (forklift certification is an asset)Strong work ethic and a high standard of integrityAbility to work well independently and collaboratively in a team settingKnowledge of health and safety regulations in warehouse and retail environmentsPhysically capable of lifting and moving heavy materials safelyPreferred
Skills:
Previous experience with or knowledge of HVAC and building products sold at the Profit CentreExperience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and OutlookAdditional Information
Salary Range -$43,000- $45,000 +profit sharing
