  • Status: Casual (between 0 and 37.5 hours per week)
  • Shift: Mornings and afternoons, until at least 8pm. No overnights involved. Facility is open Monday through Saturday.

  • Union: This is part of the BCGEU collective agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
  • Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Perform, interpret and release results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
  • Identify incidents and non-conformities, participate in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
  • Participate in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.
Qualifications
  • College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • CSMLS registered and in good standing.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to Life Labs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail who demonstrates curiosity.
  • Ability to distinguish multiple colors.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office products, as well as laboratory analyzers.
  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
