Nature & Scope

Trade Works is a 52-week employment and training initiative designed to provide Construction Craft Worker (CCW) training to up to 56 participants in four cohorts. Cohort 1-3 is located in Kamloops, BC and Clearwater, BC. The project supports participants in gaining essential skills, certifications, and hands‑on experience to transition into employment within the construction sector. This position has the primary responsibility for recruitment of participants, assessment and intake, facilitating employability skills workshops, supporting participants during the training, and providing follow‑up support.

This position will be working with Work BC for direct referrals. Furthermore, this position includes community outreach in order to recruit participants, develop strong professional networks in the local community with various community service providers, and the employer/business community. A strong understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs to achieve attachment to the labour market. This position will support participants located in the Kamloops region for 3 cohorts and 1 cohort in Clearwater.

Major

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate life, employability, job maintenance, social and wellness workshops
  • Coordinate participant recruitment and screening process, assessing their work readiness and fit for the program
  • Assist program participants in the creation of an Action Plan to map out goals for employment and/or training
  • Conduct weekly 1-1 check-ins with participants and arrange follow-up meetings to support and track employment progress
  • Connect with participant supports (e.g. mental health support workers, case managers, clinical counsellors, etc.) to provide wrap around programming
  • Effectively respond to crisis and implement behavioural management strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders including referral agencies and community organizations (in particular, those working with youth with mental illness), government agencies and businesses/employer community
  • Conduct outreach in order to engage and recruit suitable participants
  • Provide follow-up support to program participants who have completed the program and collect proof of employment
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports and statistical information using Salesforce CRM
  • Travel required to Clearwater
Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working with youth or persons facing barriers due to complex needs
  • CDP or related certification is an asset
  • Experience with developing and facilitating community-based programming and services
  • Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in life, employability and computer skills within an employment program setting
  • Awareness of local youth resources and willingness to develop community supports
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency – Adobe, Docu Sign, Salesforce and Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and Share Point
  • High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
  • Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained within 30 days of start date
