Start Date:

Immediately

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 (Dependent on experience). This position is eligible for overtime pay (paid at time and a half), discretionary performance bonuses, and holiday bonuses, increasing total compensation to $70,000 - $90,000.

Candidate Profile As a member of our building science & restoration team, you will apply your skills to solve problems in an existing building environment. Our work enhances resilient design and extends the service life of existing buildings, thereby reducing embodied carbon in our built environment. Your success will be built on forging relationships with clients and staff, demonstrating responsiveness through situational awareness, technical excellence based on creative thinking while remaining practical, and leveraging the knowledge around you and the experience you bring to the table.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Project Engineers within the project team environment, through the life cycle of a project from conceptual and preliminary stages of the design through to completion.
  • Engage in site investigation, evaluation of existing buildings, preparation of reports and studies
  • Structural engineering of existing building components including architectural features, building equipment, and building enclosure components.
  • Structural analysis of existing building structure for revised loading conditions, and seismic upgrade situations.
  • Coordinate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to facilitate projects as prime consultant. This includes assisting the client in developing construction strategies for repair/upgrade work
  • Contract administration/construction review of the work you design
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, including basic project costing
  • Follow quality control procedures established by the practice
Professional Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Degree in civil engineering from accredited university with courses that include structural engineering design and analysis
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with EGBC

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years previous experience in structural engineering or construction
  • Experience in a consulting firm environment

  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Team player with ability to work as part of a group or independently
  • Strong time management skills to successfully balance working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally
  • Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License
