Aircraft Structures Technician (AME - S or Military Equivalent)
Position overview:
The Aircraft Structure Technician (ACS) performs Elementary, Servicing and Maintenance duties in support of the Main Operating Base (MOB). This position reports to the Main Operating Base in Greenwood, NS.
- Perform First, Second and Third Level repairs on aircraft structural components and ground support equipment.
- Assess damage, control corrosion, repair, modify and replace aircraft structures and structural components using recognized techniques and specialized tools and equipment.
- Support ramp operations including pre/post flight, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling and installation/removal of mission equipment and crash and salvage response.
- Fly as necessary to support maintenance, ferry and deployment operations.
- Travel and work at other main operating bases, deployments at remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
- Provide on-job-training to other employees.
- Attend training for trade and personnel development and for qualification/certification purposes.
- Sweep and clean hangar, shop, stores and office areas; maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures and directives.
- Provide supervision to other employees.
- Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft structures and structural components, inspection techniques, damage assessment, aircraft materials and hardware, and use of special tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of corrosion control techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures.
- Ability to use standard computer programs and specialized software as needed.
- Ability to drive vehicles and tow tractors.
- Graduate of a recognized aircraft structural repair course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft structures technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aviation maintenance.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC-Contract Security Program.
