About the Job
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse:

• Functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) or Tertiary Mental Health Services multi-disciplinary care team

• Ensures that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services

• Provides assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life

• Functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families

We currently have casual opportunities available in the following Mental Health and Substance Use, Addiction Services departments:

• Complex Care Housing

• Injectable Opioid Agonist Treatment (iOAT)

• Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT)

• Fentanyl Patch Program

• Supervised Consumption Services

• Withdrawal Management Services

Please see below for a description of each of these departments:

The Complex Care Housing team includes Nurses, Life Skills Workers, Disciplines Allied to Social Work, Cultural Support, Recreation Therapists, Nurse Practitioners and Peer Support Workers. Working in partnership with a contracted service provider, the Complex Care Housing team will be based at the Complex Care Housing site.

iOAT is an evidence based treatment intervention for people with severe opioid use disorder (OUD) who have been refractory to treatment with oral opioid agonist therapy (OAT). Injectable treatment has been demonstrated to have increased retention to care, decrease in illicit opioid use, and increased quality of life. It is part of the continuum of care when treating people with OUD.

The OAT nurse supports with the initial intake and assessment for clients interested in the Opiate Agonist program. Working in a system of care, the RN/RPN will work with physicians and community services to ensure therapy initiation, support and streamlined transition and continuity of care. In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating overdose prevention education. Experience in substance use is preferred and an understanding of evidence-based practice for opioid dependence is required.

We are looking for a nurse who is flexible and well organized, with strong assessment and communication skills.

The Fentanyl patch program which works closely with the interdisciplinary OAT team and addiction prescribers.

Supervised Consumptions Services is seeking applicants with an understanding of harm reduction principals and ability to work with clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders.…
