Finance Manager

Axon Moore are excited to be supporting a well-established business in Kendal to recruit a new Finance Manager. This role is paying a competitive salary of up to £65,000 with a flexible hybrid working arrangement on offer.

Candidates must be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.

• Produce monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful analysis.
• Lead the month-end close process, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare consolidated reports as required by the Finance Director.
• Maintain and enhance financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
• Support preparation of cashflow forecasts and short-to-medium-term financial planning.

• Act as primary liaison with external auditors during annual audit processes.
• Assist with preparation of year-end statutory accounts, including technical analysis and working papers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (FRS
  102) and governance frameworks.
• Support the FD with tax and VAT queries, including partial exemption issues where applicable.

• Build strong relationships with department managers.
• Support teams in understanding financial performance, cost drivers and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide clear analysis and recommendations to drive profitability and improve financial decision-making.
• Support budget owners in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

• Evaluate current finance processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and reporting quality.
• Assist in system improvements or upgrades within the finance function.
• Promote a continuous‑improvement mindset within the team.
