Hoist Operator

Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Underground Superintendent, the schedule for this locally based position will consist of 11‑hour shifts on a 14‑day on / 14‑day off rotation while following safe work procedures to provide overall production and safe target support for Red Lake Madsen Mine team.

• Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements
• Communicate status of the hoist, conveyances, and shaft with Shaft Supervisor or designate
• Read and become familiar with all recent entries in log books
• Perform all daily checks on operating hoists, including brakes, overwinds and track limits, as required
• Conduct trial trips, as required
• Record results of all tests in Hoist Operator log book
• Operate the hoist under the direction of the authorized person giving signals
• Operate the stage winches/Elevator Conveyance under the direction of the authorized person giving signals
• Maintain housekeeping in hoist room
• Other duties as may be assigned

• Ontario Common Core with Hoist Specialty Module
• Must be able to pass Criminal Record Check
• Minimum 3 years hoist related experience
• Current Hoist Operator’s Medical Certificate
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self‑directed
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work with others

Handling heavy loads, physically demanding, attention to detail, hand‑eye coordination, standing for extended periods of time. Bending, crouching, kneeling, and climbing ladderways.
