A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the team on a major infrastructure package in Thanet. The role will support the early works phase of a large new build residential scheme, with a focus on heavy civils, roads, and drainage.

You’ll be the lead engineering presence on site for the first 6 months, working directly with the subcontractor (Walker Construction) delivering the civils and roads package. The incoming Project Director will be joining shortly and visiting site regularly, but this position requires someone confident in managing independently.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee a £5M roads and drainage package, working closely with subcontractors on delivery and compliance.

* Ensure H&S, QA/QC, and site documentation are maintained to the highest standard.

* Review and approve RAMS, traffic management plans, and temporary works.

* Monitor progress, identify risks, and provide solutions based on sound engineering judgement.

* Ensure works are carried out in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

* Be the main point of contact on-site representing Lovell until the wider team mobilises.

Requirements:

* Proven site-based experience as a Senior Engineer on roads, drainage, and heavy infrastructure packages.

* Strong working knowledge of engineering design, health & safety, and quality control processes.

* Not a setting-out role – focus is on engineering oversight, safety, and technical compliance.

* Confident working independently and representing the client on a live site.

* Experience managing subcontractors and reviewing RAMS and traffic management is essential.
