Hours / Weeks: 40 hours per week – 36 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time
Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus (will also be required to attend other college campuses in the region)
AboutThe Role
We are currently seeking a Security Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities department at the Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities- Campus patrol and safety monitoring – conduct regular internal and external patrols to maintain order and ensure a safe environment for students, staff and visitors.
- Emergency response and incident management – respond to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents or intruders, assist with lockdown procedures and act professionally in challenging situations.
- Access control and crime prevention – check , prevent unauthorised access, protect property from theft or damage, and promote crime prevention across campus.
- Operational support and flexibility – assist with estates duties (e.g. deliveries, cleaning, furniture moves), support college events and provide cover across campuses as required.
- Compliance and professional conduct – uphold safeguarding, equality and health & safety standards; maintain punctuality and a professional appearance; participate in training, including first aid certification.
- SIA licence (or willingness to obtain), First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to undertake) and GCSEs in English and Maths (A–C or equivalent).
- Experience working in customer‑focused and public‑facing environments; basic health & safety awareness; understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Strong verbal and written communication, ability to defuse difficult situations, follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team with tact and diplomacy.
- Committed to College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty); reliable, proactive and professional in all interactions.
- Valid driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to work across all college sites and adapt hours as required.
