Job Description

Who We Are

At VPL, we modernize clinical supply chains to support healthier patients. Our technology-driven solutions and consultative customer experience empower health systems and outpatient pharmacies to build smarter, more resilient supply chains. Trusted by hundreds of hospitals and known for an industry-leading customer retention rate, we deliver transparency, cost savings, and peace of mind.

What We're Looking For

The Solutions Architect is a consultant responsible for designing and scoping customized VPL solutions for customers. This role sits within Implementation and partners closely with Sales, Account Management, and Product to keep customer requirements, solution design, and delivery capabilities aligned throughout the customer lifecycle. The individual filling this role must demonstrate strong aptitude for systems and integrations, customer-facing consulting ability, and the capacity to translate complex business requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across departments and from all levels of the customer and VPL organizations to understand their infrastructure, workflows, and business objectives. This requires deep knowledge of VPL's platform capabilities, integration options, and best practices to recommend configurations and architectural approaches that optimize customer outcomes. You will establish yourself as a trusted advisor to customers and internal teams, contributing to the evolution of VPL's solution design patterns and delivery best practices.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with Sales, Account Management, and Product during discovery and early implementation, conducting calls and workshops to understand customer requirements, infrastructure, and constraints.
  • Design and document customized solution architectures tailored to each customer's specific business needs, environment, and integration requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend VPL platform configurations, third-party integrations (APIs, webhooks, EDI, SFTP, FHIR, etc.), and approaches that balance functionality, scalability, and cost.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to Implementation teams during solution design and configuration phases, ensuring consistency and best practices.
  • Lead discussions with customers, including C-level stakeholders, IT teams, and operations leadership; communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Travel to customer sites for discovery sessions, go-lives, and stabilization support (approximately 50% travel), with visits typically running multiple consecutive days depending on project phase.
  • Maintain and expand expertise in VPL's platform capabilities, integration patterns, industry standards, and emerging technologies relevant to healthcare logistics.
  • Document solution architectures, design decisions, and implementation approaches to build institutional knowledge and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to identify feature gaps, integration opportunities, and improvements based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Participate in customer success initiatives, enablement, and thought leadership activities as needed.
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years' experience as a Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineer, or similar consulting role, with demonstrated success designing solutions for enterprise software products.
  • 3+ years' hands-on experience with software integrations, APIs, webhooks, data mapping, ETL processes, or similar integration work.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, supply chain workflows, or pharmacy operations (preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing and management systems such as Epic, Pioneer Rx, and Care Tend is a plus.
  • Knowledge of logistics and shipping workflows, including integration with small parcel carriers and couriers, is a plus.
  • Experience integrating ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle) from a purchasing and finance perspective is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly grasp complex systems and business requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working with customers at all organizational levels, from IT teams to C-suite executives, and influencing decisions.
  • Comfortable with the logistics of business…
