Job PurposeTo lead and manage the design, integration, assembly, wiring, testing, and quality checks of control system panels within the Panel Engineering Department. The role ensures compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and project requirements while delivering cost‑effective, innovative design solutions. The Lead Design Engineer mentors the engineering team and drives continuous improvement in design processes and internal tools.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Design & Engineering- Design validation of control system panels, ensuring compliance with internal standards and project specifications.
- Validate wiring diagrams, GA/IA, and layout drawings.
- Support the drafting team in component selection for standardization, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Lead panel engineering activities across multiple projects.
- Monitor progress, report, and resolve design or manufacturing issues proactively.
- Supervise integration contractors and coordinate panel assembly.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, logistics, QA/QC, and production to ensure timely delivery.
- Track PED material inventory and support PED supervisors in cost optimization.
- Resolve technical issues and address deviations during integration.
- Collaborate with vendors on quality issues in resale items.
- Provide technical support to procurement for evaluations and purchase orders.
- Guide subcontractors on panel assembly, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
- Engage with the project team on technical discussions and requirements.
- Collaborate with QC Engineers for inspections, testing, and handover activities.
- Organize internal meetings and walkthroughs for timely handovers.
- Maintain project schedules and quality plans, including production tools and equipment.
- Document scope deviations and ensure proper tracking and reporting.
- Prepare summary reports on actual cost vs. sales budget.
- Implement techniques to optimize subcontractor man‑hours and improve integration efficiency.
- Maintain lessons‑learned records and contribute to knowledge sharing within the PED team.
- Review and approve engineering drawings for manufacturing and BOMs for procurement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE and QA/QC standards during assembly and testing.
- Conduct internal testing, update job cards and traceability, and handover panels for Pre‑FAT/FAT.
- Ensure all designs meet project requirements and internal/customer standards.
- Implement risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Supervise contractors’ technicians and provide technical guidance.
- Conduct training on design tools, standards, and best practices.
- Foster continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers and internal teams regarding panel design.
- Participate in design reviews and clarify technical queries.
- Support the proposal team for estimation activities on new project proposals.
