Lead Process Flow Assurance Engineer – Onshore / Single Phase / Synergi Pipeline Simulator (Saudi Arabia – Aramco Projects)
OverviewThe Lead Process Flow Assurance Engineer will manage and execute all flow assurance and hydraulic engineering activities for onshore oil & gas facilities, gathering systems, and pipeline networks in Saudi Arabia. The role requires deep expertise in single‑phase flow modeling, a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS), and 15+ years of total experience in the oil & gas industry.
Prior experience delivering Saudi Aramco onshore projects is mandatory.
Flow Assurance Engineering (Onshore)
- Lead single‑phase flow assurance studies for onshore pipelines, trunklines, flowlines, and gathering networks.
- Perform steady‑state and transient hydraulic simulations using Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
- Conduct pressure‑drop analysis, thermal evaluation, line sizing, and system operability assessments.
- Evaluate system behavior during startup, shutdown, pigging, ramp‑up, and upset conditions.
- Identify and mitigate risks such as erosion, sand transport, thermal issues, and slugging at transitions.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with Saudi Aramco standards: SAES, SAMSS, SAEP.
- Prepare and review Aramco‑required documents:
Design Basis Memoranda (DBM), Hydraulic Calculation Reports, Flow Assurance Studies, Operating Philosophy, Interface Control Documents (ICDs). - Participate in Aramco design reviews, HAZOPs, Model Reviews, and respond to TQs/SQs.
- Build, calibrate, and maintain SPS models for onshore pipeline networks and facility hydraulics.
- Integrate SPS models with process simulations for full‑system evaluation.
- Support pipeline and process teams with surge analysis, hydraulic profiles, and line sizing.
- Lead flow assurance scopes across FEED, detailed design, EPC, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with process, pipeline, mechanical, and operations teams.
- Review vendor packages (pumps, compressors, separators, heaters, metering systems) for hydraulic compliance.
- Provide technical leadership during project workshops and client meetings.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of total experience in the oil & gas industry.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
- Strong expertise in single‑phase flow modeling and pipeline hydraulics.
- Mandatory:
Proven experience working on Saudi Aramco onshore projects. - Strong understanding of Aramco standards (SAES, SAMSS, SAEP, GI).
- Experience with onshore pipeline networks, gathering systems, and processing facilities.
- Strong analytical and modeling capabilities.
- Excellent understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage interfaces.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with Saudi project execution culture and requirements.
- BS Engineering Degree and registered as a professional engineer with significant experience of 15 years.
- Experience in hydrocarbon processing/utilities units, the oil/gas industry or refinery project/process industries and recognized as a project/process engineering specialist.
- Experience in coordinating/managing work internally, with other disciplines, and 3rd party/licensors.
- Thorough knowledge of process engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
