Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Project Design Engineer to work for our client at their site in Kidderminster. This is an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated individual who would like to join an established engineering department.
Responsibilities- Fully commit to the achievement of company policies and objectives with attention to quality, safety and environment.
- Undertake reasonable instructions from senior personnel in the best interests of the company.
- Assist sales in the preparation of quotation drawings/documents (workload permitting).
- Assist in the development of new equipment and product ranges (workload permitting).
- Assist in the creation of standard 3D models and library parts (workload permitting).
- Create cost‑effective designs by integrating common parts and standardising components.
- Produce General Arrangement drawings, manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.
- Produce 3D models for estimating weights, volumes, interferences, determining complex geometry, etc.
- Verify designs by calculations and/or FEA/CFD (analysis to be carried out under supervision).
- Design products that are safe and in accordance with health and safety legislation.
- Design products that comply with applicable design codes (e.g. ASME VIII, ASME B31.3).
- Design products that comply with applicable governing legislation (e.g. 2014/68/EU (PED)).
- Produce material requisitions to ensure all material/quantity/technical requirements are identified.
- Use standard components and reference part numbers from the company system, where possible.
- Instigate and maintain ongoing control of projects/contracts from sales hand‑over through to delivery.
- Organise the duties, tasks, and workload of engineers assisting on larger contracts.
- Liaise with quality/production to ensure subcontract and in‑house activity is considered and controlled.
- Supervise workshop personnel and/or subcontractors, as required.
- Organise and prepare all engineering documentation requirements, as required by the contract.
- Submit required contract documentation to client/third party through the documentation department.
- Minimum GCSE Grade 5 (equivalent grade
C) or higher in Maths and English. - HNC in Mechanical Engineering essential.
- Essential knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat.
- AutoCAD and Solid Works (and 3D modelling) experience essential.
- ASME PV code knowledge preferred (e.g. ASME VIII).
- Knowledge of manufacturing, welding, piping and materials essential.
- Experience working within the oil and gas industry preferred.
- Experience with filters, strainers and pressure vessels preferred.
