Summary:
The Senior Advisor will support the development of UK Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions, working closely with technical working groups, and ensuring that these documents become UK-wide environmental standards.
As part of the UK BAT Team you’ll help shape policy, manage technical author teams, and present final documents suitable for publication.
Responsibilities:
- Support the drafting of BAT conclusions and liaise with technical working groups.
- Present final documents as UK-wide environmental standards for industry.
- Assume a key role within the UK BAT Senior Advisor process.
- Provide oversight and coordination of technical authors.
- Conduct detailed reviews of technical documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with environmental legislation.
- Apply project‑management skills to deliver outcomes on time and to agreed standards.
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in environmental regulation across industrial sectors.
- Solid understanding of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, particularly the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
- Experience coordinating and reviewing the publication of technical documents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of BAT conclusions and their implications for permits, industry, and the environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
- Proficient in planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources to achieve timely and effective results.
- Flexibility to adapt to challenges and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
- Capability for technical data collection and complex industrial data analysis.
Working Conditions:
- Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
