Are you an experienced engineer ready to take ownership of critical site utilities and keep a complex industrial environment running smoothly? We're looking for a Utilities Engineer to support and maintain key systems across a large engineering/manufacturing site.
Reporting directly to the Boiler House Manager, you'll play a vital role in the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of mechanical and building services systems. It's a hands‑on position where no two days are the same – from boiler house duties to HVAC and fire system maintenance.
A BOAS certification is desirable but not essential – if you don't have it, you'll receive full support to obtain it. Participation in the call‑out rota will be required.
What you'll be doing:- Ensuring continuity of utilities supply across the site
- Day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the boiler house
- Servicing and repairing fire suppression systems
- Maintaining HVAC and steam systems
- Supporting compressed air system upkeep
- Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Carrying out installations, remedial works, and urgent reactive repairs
- Conducting general mechanical repairs
- Participating in the boiler house call‑out rota
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
Essential:
- C&G NVQ Level 2 engineering‑based qualification
- At least 3 years' experience in an industrial or commercial environment
- Experience working with HVAC systems
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems
Desirable:
- BOAS Cert IBO
- IPAF and PASMA
- Boiler house operation
- Asbestos awareness
- L8 awareness
- Experience using a CAFM/CMMS system
- Communicate clearly and confidently
- Are organised and able to manage tasks effectively
- Are comfortable using computer‑based systems
- Can interpret and follow technical drawings
- Enjoy solving problems in a dynamic environment
- Work in a highly skilled engineering environment
- Develop specialist knowledge (with funded BOAS training if needed)
- Be part of a supportive and experienced facilities team
- Contribute directly to the safe and efficient running of a major manufacturing site
