Job Description:

3M is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Continuous Improvement (CI) team, located in Brockville, ON.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

In this role you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and implementing improvements in processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives that support the organization's strategic goals.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the company. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Working directly with all teams on improvement projects, running/leading Kaizen events, increasing employee engagement and continuous improvement
  • Leveraging a wide range of improvement techniques, approaches, and methods to develop and implement solutions for a variety of complex issues and operational and financial improvement objectives
  • Developing & improving existing data tools to support the ongoing efforts to identify and control yield, labour productivity, cost, and uptime
  • Applying analytical skills for analysis and interpretation of trends or data for the purpose of improving target operational and/or financial objectives
  • Process Analysis:
    Evaluate current processes to identify areas for improvement using data analysis and process mapping techniques.
  • Project Management:
    Lead and manage continuous improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with various departments to understand their needs and challenges, facilitating workshops and meetings to brainstorm solutions.
  • Implementation:
    Develop and implement solutions that streamline operations, reduce waste, and improve quality and productivity.
  • Monitoring:
    Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Training:
    Provide training and support to staff on new processes and systems to ensure successful adoption and sustainability.
  • Reporting:
    Prepare and present reports on project progress, outcomes, and benefits to stakeholders and management.
  • Your Skills and Expertise
    To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, process improvement, and project management in a private, public, goverment or military envriomernt
  • Additional qualifications and competencies that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Practical experience with implementation and sustaining of CI Programs
  • Engineering focus in the areas of TPM, Operational Excellence, DMAIC, and Lean tools
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and make decisions
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Suite and Mini Tab
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certified – Blackbelt a plus
  • Detail-Oriented: an ability to focus on details and ensure accuracy in analysis and implementation.
  • Innovative Thinking: an ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Team Player: an ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships.
