Overview

Payroll Assistant will report to the HR Manager, prepare weekly payrolls, maintain the payroll system, and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Responsibilities include managing payroll systems and processes, weekly analysis reporting, reconciliations and controls, and relationship management with departments throughout the business.

The Role
  • Oversee payroll across the business and work with management to ensure efficient processing.
  • Ensure high quality by reviewing input data.
  • Process weekly pay claims, timesheets, and ad‑hoc payments.
  • Make correct payments to employees, handling tax, SSP, and SMP calculations for UK payroll.
  • Review payroll inputs, payslips and reports.
  • Prepare payroll journals.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance and store managers to ensure complete and timely data, updates and claims.
  • Process pension payments in line with legislation.
  • Assist HR with administrative tasks.
  • Liaise with accounts payable.

  • Brightpay experience advantageous.
