Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Works Manager to join a Tier 2 contractor delivering a major highways civils project in Leeds. This is a key site-based role supporting the delivery of complex highways works to programme, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day management of site operations and subcontractors

Overseeing highways and civil engineering works to ensure programme and quality targets are met

Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with health & safety legislation, method statements, and risk assessments

Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and logistics

Liaising with the Project Manager, engineers, and site teams

Monitoring progress and reporting on performance and issues

Ensuring compliance with client and statutory requirements

Requirements

Proven experience as a Works Manager on major highways or civil engineering projects

Experience working for a Tier 2 contractor preferred

SMSTS or SSSTS (valid)

CSCS Black Card (required)

Strong knowledge of highways construction methodologies and safety standards

Ability to work independently and manage site teams effectively

Location & Accommodation

Candidates must be local to Leeds or willing to lodge locally at their own expense
