Team Manager – Culture

£46,503 – £49,295 / £25.48 – £27.01 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

Permanent, 35 hours per week, Level 1 Disclosure Scotland Clearance required.

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and driven individual to coordinate and oversee all areas of the Council’s Cultural services, including Museums, St Magnus Cathedral, Heritage and Arts. The role supports the development of strategy, policy and planning across Cultural services during a period of significant organisational change.

Key responsibilities
:

• Lead budget control and manage a dispersed staff team across a wide range of facilities and service areas.
• Ensure compliance with sectoral standards, including the Museums Association code of ethics.
• Provide strategic guidance to rural and island communities about opportunities and challenges in Cultural services.
• Travel efficiently between work locations within Orkney to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications and experience
:

• Qualification at SCQF 8/9 (e.g., SVQ 4, HND, General Degree, higher apprenticeship) or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
• Associateship of the Museums Association qualification is desirable.
• Proven record in budget control and team management.
• Detailed knowledge of cultural services standards and rural island community needs.
