UWI has developed and patented a pioneering, award-winning and cost-efficient biological drinking water purification technology in 20’ and 40’ foot containerised systems under the brand name Bio Green™.
Based on its sustainability, cost efficiency and long-term quality the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources has selected UWI’s water purification system as a preferred drinking water purification technology.
UWI currently operates water purification plants in West Bengal and aims to expand significantly across the state and other regions of India in the near future.
UWI is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland.

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive problem solver to take ownership of the operation, maintenance, and expansion of our water purification plants in West Bengal and beyond. You will be responsible for servicing and maintaining the plants, conducting water tests, diagnosing, and replacing defective components, and ensuring smooth operations through routine checklists.
As we grow, you will lead local installations of containerised water purification plants, coordinate with various stakeholders, and support R&D efforts by testing new filter media and optimizing system efficiencies. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with technical teams, clients, and HQ to ensure seamless operations, payments, and business development. With no local team, we need someone self-sufficient, structured, and reliable.

Experience in Solid Works, PLC programming, electrical wiring, and PE pipe welding is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

· The role requires an engineering background with hands-on expertise in maintaining and installing water purification systems, including diagnosing and replacing defective electrical components, performing system installations.

· A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

· Language

Skills:

Fluent in oral and written English and Bengali is essential.

· Hands-on & Problem-Solving Mindset:
Must be proactive, adaptable, and solution oriented.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
End-to-End Plant Operations & Maintenance
Take full responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the water purification plants, ensuring their efficiency and reliability. This includes:

· Performing routine service and maintenance.

· Following and managing weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance checklists.

· Diagnosing, analysing, and replacing defective system components.

· Identifying faulty electrical components and replacing them independently.

· Exchanging UV filters and filling media into vessels as needed.

· Replacing pump parts when necessary.

· Conducting water tests and ensuring timely submission to the lab in Kolkata.

· Continuously suggesting improvements to optimize plant performance and efficiency.

Installation & Expansion

· Lead the local installation of containerized water purification plants.

· Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and scalability.

Research & Development (R&D)

· Work closely with HQ to install test systems and evaluate new filtration media.

· Provide data-driven feedback on performance and suggest improvements.

· Identify additional efficiencies to enhance deliverables and reduce costs.

Communication & Business Development

· Maintain clear communication with the local technical team.

· Follow up with client division heads and payment teams to ensure invoice processing and O&M payments.

· Assess new business opportunities and collaborate with the sales team for execution.

· Work closely with the Product Head at HQ for technical support and system enhancements.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS (PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED)

· Engineering & Design:

Experience with Solid Works or Inventor.

· Automation & Electrical:
Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Codesys).

· Electrical Systems:
Skilled in wiring electrical cabinets.

· Pipe Installation:
Experience in butt and electrofusion welding of PE pipes.
