As a General Practitioner (GP) employed through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) within a Primary Care Network (PCN), you will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a recently qualified GP, offering the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and confidence in a supportive environment.

You will manage a range of acute and chronic conditions, participate in health promotion and contribute to team‑based care plans, with appropriate supervision.

LP C are a Tier 2 Visa Sponsor and as such, welcome appropriate applications.

Main duties of the job

The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced services including:

  • In‑person/telephone consultations
  • Visiting patients at home/in nursing homes
  • Checking/signing repeat prescriptions
  • Queries, paperwork, correspondence & clinical admin as required
  • Working closely with PCN and practice teams

Job responsibilities

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers.

Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers.

Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well as wider guidance such as that from NICE.

Appropriate follow up of patients.

Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes.

Participate in clinical audits, learning event analyses and practice meetings.

Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribe generically whenever appropriate in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice.

Work with/provide support for other members of the primary health care team.

Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed/other key performance indicator targets.

We have 22 practices across 4 PCNs—Blackburn North, East, West and Darwen—with a population of c180,000.

Our PCNs and practice teams have a positive and supportive working relationship, and this role is an opportunity to enhance PCN services further. The new exciting roles would be integral to the PCN for fulfilling our DES responsibilities.
