An established and fast‑growing food manufacturer in the Lancashire area is looking to appoint a Planning Coordinator to support production planning within a short shelf‑life FMCG environment.
This role would suit someone with experience in production planning, supply chain coordination, or manufacturing planning who enjoys working in a fast‑paced food manufacturing setting and collaborating closely with operations, technical, and commercial teams.
The RoleAs Planning Coordinator, you’ll support short‑and medium‑term production planning to ensure customer demand is met while minimising waste and managing shelf‑life constraints. You’ll play a key role in maintaining service levels, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily and weekly production planning for short shelf‑life products
- Create and maintain detailed production schedules, considering shelf life, allergens, changeovers, and capacity
- Coordinate plans with Production, Technical, Engineering, and Procurement teams
- Monitor labour, line capacity, and material availability to reduce downtime and late changes
- Manage short‑term demand changes, including late orders and volume fluctuations
- Support stock control of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
- Produce planning and performance reports (service level, forecast accuracy, stock KPIs)
- Support new product launches, promotions, and seasonal peaks
- Ensure planning activities comply with food safety and quality standards (e.g. BRCGS, HACCP)
- Experience in a planning, production coordination, or supply chain role within food manufacturing or short shelf‑life FMCG
- Strong understanding of production planning in a high‑volume environment
- Experience using ERP/MRP or production planning systems
- Good knowledge of shelf‑life management and waste reduction
- Experience in chilled, fresh, or ready‑to‑eat food manufacturing
- Understanding of food safety standards such as BRCGS or HACCP
- Experience supporting promotions or new product launches
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Confident working in a fast‑paced FMCG environment
- Analytical with good attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
- Proactive, solution‑focused approach
