Senior Buyer – Indirect Procurement
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to play a key role in driving procurement change and engagement across Certas and the wider DCC Group. This is a high-impact role where you’ll execute procurement strategies that deliver best value, ensure compliance, and support the business in achieving its strategic and financial objectives.
You’ll take ownership of complex, fast-paced tenders, influence stakeholders at all levels, and help shape the future of our indirect procurement function. The role also includes deputising for the Director of Indirect Procurement when required.
What you’ll be doingOperational Excellence
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end tendering processes, including issuing tenders and evaluating supplier responses
- Build and manage exceptional stakeholder relationships, influencing decision-making across all levels of the business
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to implement sourcing strategies by function and category, including preferred supplier lists
- Identify and develop new suppliers to drive competitiveness and market tension
- Take a creative, solutions-focused approach to negotiations when challenges arise
- Introduce and manage Supplier Relationship Management, including quarterly reviews using tailored balanced scorecards
- Own full contract lifecycle management, from proposal analysis and negotiation through to KPI and SLA performance reviews
- Identify opportunities for supplier synergies and added value
- Support sustainability objectives by working with suppliers to meet environmental and reduction targets
- Operate autonomously at pace with minimal supervision
- Ensure procurement activity aligns with company objectives, policies, and legislative requirements (including PCI, GDPR, IR35)
- Challenge suppliers and stakeholders to ensure optimal sourcing decisions
- Maximise value and control costs across all negotiations and contracts
- Contribute directly to departmental and business financial targets
- Deliver annual cost savings in line with agreed objectives
- Support internal customers by sourcing the right products at the best price and correct locations
- Assist business areas with price negotiation and delivery coordination
- Maintain a courteous, professional approach at all times
- Strengthen relationships between Certas and its supplier base
- Use influencing strategies to drive engagement and alignment
- Actively contribute to a collaborative, flexible, and high-performing team culture
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture in line with Safety F1rst principles
- Ensure compliance with all company HSE policies, including driving for work and PPE requirements
- Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues and others in the workplace
- Proven experience negotiating best value and managing long-term supplier and customer contracts
- Demonstrable experience managing varied and challenging tenders at pace
- Strong end-to-end contract lifecycle management experience
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen
- High level of customer service orientation
- Confident presenter with strong MS Office / Office 365 skills
- Experience using e-tendering portals and adapting to new business systems
- CIPS qualified
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK
