An opportunity has arisen to recruit an Electrical Engineer to join the NI Maintenance team, supporting both Kilroot and Ballylumford Power Stations. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of electrical engineering across both sites from ongoing maintenance and compliance to leading projects for new generation assets and the retrofit of obsolete or ageing equipment. The role requires a proactive, forward‑thinking engineer who embraces change and takes ownership of decisions as the business evolves.
Key Responsibilities- Maintaining the integrity, reliability, and safety of all electrical systems and equipment across Kilroot and Ballylumford.
- Providing electrical engineering expertise and managing internal teams and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operations.
- Leading and managing projects for new generation installations, retrofit of obsolete systems, and modernisation initiatives in line with the company’s strategic direction.
- Supporting the development and implementation of long‑term asset management and maintenance strategies.
- Liaising with other engineering disciplines, operations, and project teams to ensure seamless coordination across both sites.
- Taking an active role in continuous improvement of maintenance practices, risk assessments, and compliance processes.
- Operating SAP/Eclipse systems for work management, safety documentation, and materials control.
- Managing spares procurement and maintaining close contact with OEMs and suppliers to identify suitable replacement or upgrade solutions.
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability, and ownership within all aspects of electrical engineering.
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a power generation or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of modernisation projects, asset life cycle management and retrofit or replacement of legacy systems.
- Demonstrable ability to lead and deliver engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Awareness of the UK and NI electricity market, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
- Positive attitude towards change and innovation, with the ability to adapt to evolving business needs.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Confidence to take ownership of decisions and drive outcomes to completion.
- Commercially aware with a focus on efficiency, safety and long‑term reliability.
- Third‑level qualification (e.g. degree, HNC or HND) in electrical or power engineering – essential.
- Chartered or working toward professional registration – desirable.
