Purpose of the role

Provide consistent and relevant support and guidance in health, safety, quality and environmental (HSQE) matters to all RES business units based in the UK and Ireland, primarily focusing on Services. Work with all value‑streams across the UK to set and deliver business objectives that balance HSQE impact with cost efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead HSQE Manager to ensure the HSQE performance reflects good industry practice and complies with relevant legislation, guidance and company policies.
  • Provide HSQE advice to business units.
  • Undertake audits and regular site inspections, normally once a month per site, with flexibility based on risk.
  • Assist with development of the HSQE management systems to promote continuous improvement, exemplary behaviour and a commercial advantage.
  • Review and comment on business documentation such as risk assessments, procedures, method statements and training courses.
  • Analyse HSQE trends identified through incidents, audits and inspections and present findings and recommendations.
  • Undertake incident investigations.
  • Prepare workshop/briefing materials and facilitate workshops to communicate HSQE matters; provide written feedback to value streams.
  • Engage with contractors and clients.
  • Select and review training organisations and courses, both internal and external.
  • Support the setting out of competency requirements and the development of training programmes.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Lead HSQE Manager.
  • Assess the suitability of suppliers’ HSQE management systems as part of a pre‑qualification process.
  • Champion excellent HSQE culture and behaviours, challenging poor culture at any level and supporting others to do the same.
  • Collaborate with project teams to promote simplicity and clarity in processes, method statements and work instructions, backed by clear written and verbal communication.
Qualifications – Knowledge
  • Minimum requirement NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of UK&I health, safety and environment legislation.
  • Quality audit training, e.g. UKAS approved or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the renewable services industry.
  • Understanding of behavioural safety programmes.
Qualifications – Skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective and persuasive communication with regulators, clients, contractors and suppliers; ability to build rapport and trust.
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication; ability to present information in a structured, balanced way.
  • Analytical decision‑making based on relevant information, analysis and judgement.
Qualifications – Experience
  • Experience in the renewables sector and/or services industry.
  • Experience of manufacturing industry or operational sites is an advantage.
  • Experience undertaking internal and supplier audits.
  • Experience applying, implementing and developing quality, health, safety and/or environmental management systems.
  • Experience supporting and developing HSQE knowledge among site and office teams.
Qualifications – Other Attributes
  • Willingness to travel and work unsocial hours occasionally.
  • Collaborative outlook demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members.
  • Passionate approach to communicating and improving HSQE management.
  • Full driving licence that allows driving in the UK & Ireland.
  • Physically able to work on operational sites (including climbing wind turbines subject to completing training).
