Grounds Maintenance Trainee

THE EMPLOYER IS: SPR MCGOWAN TREE SERVICES Grounds maintenance trainees will shadow experienced grounds maintenance employees to learn how to complete their job to a high standard. They will complete administrative tasks by filling out job cards and risk assessments, use machinery to cut grass under supervision, converse with customers and carry out any duties detailed to them by experienced employees.

• Perform groundskeeping tasks.
• Cut grass through various techniques (mowing and strimming).
• Prune hedges.
• Clean up rubbish on sites.
• Complete weed control.
• Learn how to operate and maintain equipment safely.

• Attention to detail when working on site.
• Physically able for working outside all day and carrying out labour intensive tasks.
• Good communication skills fit for conversing with office staff, employees and customers.
• Listening skills for following advice given by grounds men to carry out work properly and abide by health and safety regulations.
• Able to handle work for long hours in outdoor conditions.
